Test Your Pool Water
It is important to keep your pool water balanced for healthy swimming. A properly balanced pool also helps to extend the life of your pool equipment and various pool surfaces.
Anthony and Sylvan Pools provides free in-store computerized water testing.
- Bring a water sample to any Anthony and Sylvan retail store 2-3 times a month for testing, or immediately if you are having any water balancing issues.
- Our professional computerized water testing includes:
- Testing of free chlorine, total chlorine, pH, total alkalinity, calcium hardness, cyanuric acid, copper, iron and TDS (total dissolved solids)
- Testing for nitrates or phosphates is also available upon request.
- Water sample should be taken 12 -18” below the surface from the deep end of the pool while the pool is circulating. Sample size should be at least 8ozs and collected in a plastic container. Free Water sample bottles are available at any of our retail outlets upon request.
- For the most accurate results the sample should be tested within 2 hours from when the sample was taken from the pool. Never leave the water sample anywhere that might result in a temperature change of more than 10 degrees (Eg. A car left in a hot parking lot.)
Water Testing Kits
Our Retail Supply Centers also sell a variety of water testing kits for at home testing. Pool water should be tested at least once a week at home. Testing the pH and Chlorine regularly are the most important steps in maintaining pool water clarity and sanitation levels.
- Test Strips are the fastest and easiest way to test. Dip one strip in the pool for 2 seconds and compare the colors on the strip to the chart provided. (Instructions vary by manufacturer so be sure to follow instructions on the bottle!)
- Liquid Kits require a sample of water to be placed into a test tube. Count the number of chemical reagents drops and watch for a change in the color of the sample.
