Anthony & Sylvan Community Activities
We at Anthony & Sylvan are grateful for the support we have received from our customers and associates. One of the ways we show our appreciation is by honoring our obligations to society, by being a contributing member, both economically and socially, to the communities in which we do business. The hope is that society will be better, in part, due to our philanthropy and community leadership. We believe in supporting our local communities by being a good neighbor...and investing in our own backyard. From little leagues to public works projects, Anthony & Sylvan is giving back and working to make a difference.
Anthony & Sylvan is proud to support organizations such as The United Way and American Red Cross relief efforts to rebuild communities when disasters strike. Companywide, our employees annually contribute over $50,000 to United Way chapters through our companywide employee pledge drives and various fundraising events. These contributions help fund programs in health and human services agencies.
In addition, employees donate their time by participating in Days of Caring to help United Way agencies with much-needed projects such as painting or planting gardens, preparing and serving meals, and organizing events for seniors or children, etc. Participation not only showcases our volunteer spirit and commitment to making a difference in local communities, but also fosters our employees’ team spirit and morale while having fun.
The Austin division is proud to contribute to various local community organizations that our employees are passionate about supporting. Some of these organizations include:
Muscular Dystrophy Lock Up & Summer Camp
Lead Manager Robin Bogdon was “locked up” in March by the Capital Area Chapter of the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Along with 64 other “jailbirds,” donations of over $44,000 were raised to go toward finding a cure for this neuromuscular disease.
Robin was notified in advance of her upcoming “arrest,” allowing her time to solicit donations to “get out of jail.”
Fellow employees, vendors and customers, donated money to Robin for her worthy cause. On the day of her arrest, Robin was picked up by a local constable at the Austin division office and whisked off to jail (the Old San Francisco Steakhouse), where she donated her “bail money” to get out of jail. Her jailers ensured she had a good meal while she was locked up! After her release, she was driven back to the office…IN A LIMOUSINE! What a way to break out of jail for a good cause!
Robin and Anthony & Sylvan Pools received a hearty “Jerry’s Kids Thank You” as the efforts of the Austin division helped to send 74 children to the MDA summer camp as well as provided precious dollars for research to help put an end to this debilitating disease.
Forest Area Swim Team (FAST) Frogs
The Forest Area Swim Team FAST Frogs is a non-profit recreational summer swim team in Round Rock, TX, for children ages 5 through 18. The team competes in 4 neighborhood meets in the Austin Aquatic League in Balcones Woods, Westover, Great Hills and Twin Creeks Country Club in the Lake Forest and Forest Creek neighborhoods.
Anthony & Sylvan is a proud sponsor supporting the FAST Frogs with funds to help offset costs for team management and pool maintenance expenses.
Round Rock Youth Football Association
Round Rock Youth Football Association (RRYFA) is a non-profit association for young boys and girls, ages 4 through 12, in the Round Rock, TX and surrounding area. The league was established in 1997 and is one of the fastest growing youth football leagues in the Austin area.
In addition to the flag and tackle football teams, the RRYFA sponsors a cheerleading squad for each team for ages 5 through 13. General Manager, Peter Englebert's son Rory recently joined the league. Anthony & Sylvan is proud to support the league with sponsorship funds that help to offset costs of referees and officials, field maintenance, cheerleading, and other league expenses.
