Anthony & Sylvan Community Activities

We at Anthony & Sylvan are grateful for the support we have received from our customers and associates. One of the ways we show our appreciation is by honoring our obligations to society, by being a contributing member, both economically and socially, to the communities in which we do business. The hope is that society will be better, in part, due to our philanthropy and community leadership. We believe in supporting our local communities by being a good neighbor...and investing in our own backyard. From little leagues to public works projects, Anthony & Sylvan is giving back and working to make a difference.

Anthony & Sylvan is proud to support organizations such as The United Way and American Red Cross relief efforts to rebuild communities when disasters strike. Companywide, our employees annually contribute over $50,000 to United Way chapters through our companywide employee pledge drives and various fundraising events. These contributions help fund programs in health and human services agencies.

In addition, employees donate their time by participating in Days of Caring to help United Way agencies with much-needed projects such as painting or planting gardens, preparing and serving meals, and organizing events for seniors or children, etc. Participation not only showcases our volunteer spirit and commitment to making a difference in local communities, but also fosters our employees’ team spirit and morale while having fun.

Houston United Way

Houston Office Manager Lisa Hileman used her creativity for the second year in a row to compile recipes from Anthony & Sylvan employees into a cookbook to raise funds for our local United Way chapter. The cookbook included recipes from employees throughout the company, including Texas barbecue, Southern delicacies and Midwest home cooked meals. Thanks, Lisa, for volunteering your time and energy to put the cookbook together and share employees’ special recipes and for supporting United Way!

Bridgestone Blue Dolphins Swim Team

Sales General Manager Jim McCleskey can't keep his three boys, ages 6, 8 and 10, out of the water. So he's happy to have them participate in the Bridgestone Blue Dolphins swim team. The Blue Dolphins are comprised of 300 members from the surrounding North Houston communities and include children ages 3 to 18. Anthony & Sylvan is proud to support the team for the third year by providing t-shirts and regional qualifying registration fees. When you visit our design center in Spring, TX, you can go right across the street to watch the Blue Dolphins practice.

BF Terry High School Rangerettes

When Lead Manager Tammie Sprouse learned her niece's high school Rangerette team was invited to participate in the A.S.C. cheerleading competition in Austin, Anthony & Sylvan stepped in to contribute funds to sponsor their trip.

The team had an enjoyable trip and finished second in the competition. Girls, keep those pom-pom's raised high because your Anthony &Sylvan Team is behind you.

Way to Go Terry Rangers!

Leukemia Cup Kickoff 2007

Design Consultant Mark Simonton suggested Anthony & Sylvan support the Leukemia Cup Regatta 2007 by donating an item for their silent auction.

The Leukemia Cup Regatta was started in 1998 after a former Yacht Club member lost their life to leukemia. In 2006, the sailing community raised more than $3.3 million at 47 Regattas throughout the U.S., bringing the overall campaign results to more than $20 million. More than 17,000 participants annually take part in the series.

Anthony & Sylvan is proud to help provide funds to support The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's cancer research, education and services to improve the quality of life for patients and their families.

Bay Area Texas Baseball Team

Thanks to Project Manager Steve Hornsby, another local school team supported by Anthony & Sylvan's Houston division is the Bay Area Texas Baseball Team. BATB baseball is for children ages 4 to 18 and includes the surrounding North Houston neighborhoods and schools. Friendly competition is encouraged, but sportsmanship, development and fun take priority.

Texas Express Gold

Design Consultant Bill Shuler's daughter is a pitcher for the Texas Express Gold, a competitive fast-pitch girl's softball team with participants from Katy, Houston, Richmond, Beaumont, Sugar Land, Hockley, and The Woodlands.

Anthony & Sylvan proudly helps to support the team's travels for games played throughout the U.S.
