Pool Chemicals are one of the most important elements in maintaining the beauty and balance of your pool. Chemicals are responsible for keeping pool water clean and free of bacteria and other harmful microorganisms. The presence of bacteria is not only potentially dangerous for those who swim in the pool, but will also rob your pool of its crystalline, clear appearance.
Beyond just purchasing the necessary chemicals, it is also important to use the chemicals in the appropriate amounts to maintain balance. Balance refers to the levels of acidity and alkalinity in the pool water. For example, adding too much chlorine will increase the pool’s acidity, which can irritate a person’s skin and eyes, and even corrode the metal surfaces of your pool parts. This makes adding alkaline a crucial step in maintaining homeostasis. The alkaline will counteract the acidity of the chlorine when used in the correct quantity.
Adding too much of any one chemical into your pool water will disrupt the balance you are trying to achieve. A weekly water test at one of our retail locations can help you determine if your pool is missing any crucial chemical components. There are other things that can disrupt the balance of your pool chemicals, such as bodily fluids, sunscreen, dirt, and debris. Since the presence of these elements may be unavoidable, it is important to purchase and use pool chemicals on a regular basis, or to sign up for regular service through an Anthony & Sylvan maintenance contract.

Types Available:
Algaecides
We sell a wide variety of algaecides. Our A&S Pro-60 Algaecide kills and controls algae (including "black algae") in swimming pools without causing foaming, staining, or discoloration. It contains 60% Poly [oxyethylene (dimethyliminio) ethylene-(dimethyliminio) ethylene dichloride] and is effective at both high and low pH levels. Pro-60 is compatible with chlorinating products and other non-chlorine products. A&S Pro-60 comes in two convenient containers (quart and gallon bottles). Our Pink-X Algae is specially formulated to kill and control algae and slime. It contains 50% Didecyl dimethyl ammonium chloride. We also sell Phos-X which is specially formulated to remove phosphates from swimming pools.
Cleaner Chemicals
A&S Cartridge Kleen is specially formulated to thoroughly clean filter cartridges. It is a blend of cleaning agents and degreasers especially formulated to penetrate deeply into any reusable cartridge filter or DE element and remove the accumulated material such as body oil, grease, dirt, and soap scum.
Filter Media
We sell two types of filter media. Splash D.E. (Diatomaceous Earth) is white filter powder for all standard D.E. (diatomaceous earth) filters. Comes in a package specifically designed for your convenience. It is strong, moisture resistant, easy to handle, and easy to store. It contains four 6 lb charges of efficient long-lasting D.E. filter powder. We also sell Purifiber, which is a high performance alternative to D.E. filtration. Completely non-toxic and biodegradable. Safe to handle and offers superior water clarity and longer filtering cycles while using less material than any other filter media on the market today. Purifiber has a 60% greater dirt-holding capacity than D.E., allowing for up to 3 times longer filter runs. No regeneration necessary under normal usage and maintenance. You will use 4 times LESS Product with Purifiber based on the NSF Standard 50 recommended initial dose for D.E. making Purifiber, pound for pound, an excellent choice for your filtration needs.
Liquid Blanket
Therma Swim Liquid Solar Cover is easy to use. It adds 4-8 degrees of Solar Heat to your pool.
Sanitizer - Stabilized Chlorine
- A&S Super Pool Treat (Granular) is quick dissolving 99.5% Sodium Dichloro-S-Triazinetrione Dihdrate and contains 55% available stabilized chlorine. This white, granular, fast dissolving chlorine compound will not cloud water and can be used for chlorination as well as super chlorination. This special formulated powder can be used in any pool or spa. It comes in 4 conveniently sized containers (25 lb, 15 lb, 5 lb and 2 lb)
- A&S Syl Clor Super 3" Tablets are individually wrapped for your convenience. They are 99% Trichloro-S-Triazinetrione. Each slow dissolving tablet has 90% available stabilized chlorine. When dispensed into pool water, A&S tablets act as both disinfectant and algaecide. They are the ideal size for floating dispensers and most automatic chlorinators. It comes in 4 conveniently sized containers (50 lb, 25 lb, 10 lb and 5 lb)
- A&S Syl Clor 1" Tablets are 99% Trichloro-S-Triazinetrione. Each slow dissolving tablet has 90% available stabilized chlorine. When dispensed into pool water, A&S tablets act as both disinfectant and algaecide. It comes in 3 conveniently sized containers (25 lb, 10 lb and 5 lb)
- A&S Chlorinating Sticks are 99% Trichloro-S-Triazinetrione. Each slow dissolving stick has 90% available stabilized chlorine. It comes in 3 conveniently sized containers (25 lb, 10 lb and 5 lb)
Shock

Stain Removers and Preventers
We sell a variety of stain removers and preventers. Our A&S Les-Iron is a special formulated stain and scale preventer. It prevents metallic stains and eliminates brown or green water due to metals. It comes in 2 conveniently sized containers (quart and gallon). We sell a variety of United Chemical products including Pool Stain Treat, Pool Stain Treat Spotting Bags, and Swamp Treat. We also sell a variety of Jack's Magic chemicals including Purple Stuff, Blue Stuff and The Ionizer Stuff.

Water Balancer
A&S offers a wide selection of chemicals to help you properly maintain your water balance.
- A&S Hardness Control (Calcium Hardness Increaser) - returns water to its normal hardness level. It helps prevent corrosion, etching and pitting of exposed concrete surfaces. It comes in 2 conveniently sized containers (25 lb and 7 lb.)
- A&S Chlorine Booster (Chlorine Stabilizer) stabilizes chlorine and provides protection from sun burn off. It contains 100% Cyanuric acid and is safe for both chlorine and salt pools. It comes in 4 lb sized package.
- A&S pH Up prevents corrosion of equipment, eye irritation and etching of plaster. Its active ingredient is Sodium Carbonate (soda ash.) A&S pH Up comes in 3 conveniently sized containers (18 lb, 9 lb and 5 lb).
- A&S pH Down prevents scale build-up on equipment, etching on plaster, and eye irritation. Its active chemicals include sodium bisulfate. A&S pH Down comes in 3 conveniently sized containers (25 lb, 12 lb and 6 lb).
- A&S pH Stabilizer (Alkalinity Increaser) which makes the chlorine residual last longer by minimizing evaporation of chlorine. pH Stabilizer is completely soluble in water and is effective in stabilizing the chlorine residual of all types of pool water. It comes in 2 conveniently sized containers (25 lb and 9 lb)
Water Clarifier
We sell a variety of Water Clarifiers. Our A&S Syl Floc thoroughly settles un-filterable, suspended debris to the pool floor so the debris can be easily vacuumed to waste. Syl-Floc does not contain alum. We also carry a variety of Natural Chemistry products including Pool First Aid, Pool Perfect , and Pool Perfect + pHosfree
Winterization
A&S Pool Winterizing Kit contains everything you need to get your pool closed for the season, all in one convenient box. Available in two sizes - 15,000 gallon and 30,000 gallon pools. We also offer winter kits specifically designed for pools with mesh covers.
